I am so sorry to raise this issue but despite my having read all related threads on this forum (and all I can about LInux permissions generally), I really just do not understand how permissions and ACL work together.

Perhaps someone can help explain with a practical example, to help me understand:

I have a single hard drive in my server and I create a single folder on it called "Recordings".

I then want to install TVHeadend on my system. I need this application to have access to the "Recordings" folder to actually create the .ts file in it.

What type of permission would I give to the "Recordings" folder, from the dropdown box?

Would I have to change make any additional changes under ACL?

I've set up the snapraid plugin and did some tests. I managed to "undelete" for example.
The problem is that when I want to try to replace a data disk, it does not work.

Anybody done that successfully in the GUI? The snapraid manual is for the command line and I find it very difficult to "translate" the recovery steps to the omv plugin.

    My setup:

    • data d1 /mnt/disk1/ (Content, Data)
    • data d2 /mnt/disk2/ (Content, Data)
    • parity /mnt/disk3/ (Content, Parity)

Quick question, I would like to run a virtualbox of Windows 10 on my OMV host computer. I would like to access this virtual machine on my host machine (not through a web browser or web gui but using the OMV's host display). My current setup is the opposite of that (Windows 10 running an OMV virtual machine) and I am beginning to see the limitations of this implementation, especially since this PCs primary function is to be a NAS and secondary function is to allow access to office, web browser, youtube, etc. If this is possible please help me out. Can I do this through the virtualbox plugin or should I be installing a version of virtualbox through the terminal?

    Hallo

If the OMV4 OS were to reside on a USB 3.0 flash drive . . . Does the USB 3.0 stick, when mounted in a rear panel 3.0 slot, still access RAM for the purpose of being able to put OMV4 into a Wake On LAN scenario?

Thank you for your help. When I leave the values here as 0, the .recycbin file comes out after deleting something in each folder. That's exactly what I wanted. Users could see the "reycbin" file as a hidden file in SBC / CIFS. This situation is not…
