Quote from dirkme: “Would "Debian-firmware-8.6.0-amd64-netinst.iso" be OK as install medium? ” I would use a newer release like 8.9 - look here - cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/archive/ Source Code (6 lines)

Quote from geaves: “This might give you some insigh ” This is what the plugin does and it doesn't seem to work.

  • Try a different browser? Post a screenshot of what you are seeing. Also, post the output of: dpkg -l | grep openm

Quote from dirkme: “would that still work with Debian 9 (stable)? ” No. OMV 3.x only works on Debian 8 Jessie. You should be able to install Jessie on efi though

i386 system? What is the output of: apt-cache policy virtualbox virtualbox-ext-pack-installer

  • I just uploaded the 5.1.26 packages today. You don't have to update to them. What is the output of: apt-cache policy virtualbox virtualbox-ext-pack-installer

  • Quote from geaves: “so if he does chmod -R 755 /srv/dev-disk-by-label-Torrent that should solve the problem? ” Leave off the recursive flag (you don't want everything underneath to be blindly changed) and media is directory with the wrong permissions that I can see. Don't know what the parent directory's permissions are with ls -l. The misc directory under media may wrong as well but the reset perms plugin should have changed those.

  • make cluster smb/cifs above nfs

    ryecoaaron - - General

    Post

I have never seen anyone ask about clustered smb or nfs on this forum and it is not possible using the OMV web interface. Definitely outside the scope of OMV. What do you need clustered smb/nfs for? That sounds like a huge user base.

  • Increased disk usage

    Post

Quote from Klemens: “Looks like I found my problem, debug.log - 5GB, kern.log - 5GB, syslog.log - 4GB The question is now, why did they increase so quick? ” Those logs exist to tell you what went wrong. Impossible to know without looking at them. Something is definitely wrong if they are that large.

  • Quote from bowe: “drwx------ 5 root root 4096 Aug 14 20:26 media ” This is a problem. This should be 755 not 700

  • Quote from dholdi: “Now the webgui just displays the omv logo which is clickable and takes me to the main website. ” Sounds like your browser cache needs to be cleared.

  • Quote from gwaitsi: “- still need to restore plexmedia settings....where can i find those pls? ” Not sure since I don't use it but maybe /var/lib/plexmediaserver or the shared folder you selected in the plugin.

  • Increased disk usage

    Post

Quote from Klemens: “I don't have any rsync job, but I'm using plex. Where should I start looking for cause of this? ” The database is stored /var/lib/plexmediaserver and it gets large when the media collection is large. I don't use plex so I can't help there. Quote from ajaja: “Is there a way to avoid this? ” Use something else? see answer above about how to fix.

  • Quote from gwaitsi: “for the plugins i remove prior to the upgrade, i remove via the gui by unchecking the plugin. ” Removing using the web interface purges the plugin. Quote from gwaitsi: “Is there a directly were the settings are that i can restore from? ” There is no restore for anything. You can restore the whole system or you can use /etc/openmediavault/config.xml as reference.

Quote from hruendel: “Most people use Tortoise to upload the files. ” And tortoise uses http/https for most people. Quote from hruendel: “Github is not the best solution in many cases. Who uses NAS works mostly locally in smaller working groups. Here, SVN has advantages. ” I said gitlab not github. It is local as well and perfect for small or large groups. No advantage to svn. Quote from hruendel: “SVN without WebSVN make - I mean. Is easier and does not need a web server. If you are already wor…

  • Increased disk usage

    Post

That isn't normal unless you have a bad rsync job, something logging crazy, and/or you are using plex.

  • Quote from bowe: “Why is there still a permission denied. ” No idea. It shouldn't be a linux filesystem permissions issue anymore.

  • Subversion (svn) Plugin ?

Quote from hruendel: “SVN does not need Apache and no NGINX. Synology runs SVN also and without the Web interface. SVN is a very small server you can configure with few operations. Web interface is a luxury that you do not need but needs 98% work and recursions. SVN is a very compact, fine and useful for NAS. Look at Synology's guide. ” Most people I have seen (and I am an SVN admin at work) commit svn via http/https not the svn protocol. This is where my comment about needing Apache comes from.…

  • RAID1 disapear after reboot

    ryecoaaron - - RAID

    Post

Post this info - Degraded or missing raid array questions I would seriously consider using rsync instead of a mirror as well. A mirror isn't backup.

  • Raid5 Missing, File System Missing

    ryecoaaron - - RAID

    Post

That is not a good sign that cat /proc/mdstat doesn't return anything. You will through the right steps to fix it. Sounds like the system isn't stable or a drive is failing. Anything in dmesg? I would ask yourself two questions: 1 - Do you really need raid? Raid isn't backup and there are other ways to pool drives. 2 - Can you back up the array? Raid isn't backup.
