    1.1.1.1 is a DNS server with an easy to remember IP adress. 8.8.8.8 is another one. That is google, which not everybody likes.

    It is a problem with DNS server. The server name cannot be resolved. The IP address of the router goes in gateway and in DNS server. Also add 1.1.1.1 to DNS server. Netmask is 255.255.255.0 Disable IPv6

    If you create additional shares for each of the five folders of your kids, you are able to set privileges for each share separately.

    You can format the drive from the GUI: first wipe it then create a filesystem (be careful, all data will be lost) for filesystem use ext4

  • In the file explorer in windows, I select "Network". When I then enter \\name_of_my_NAS in the title bar, I can see the SMB shares on the NAS. Another possiblibilty would be to map a network drive.

    You can show the mountpoint in the filesystem view. of the GUI Move the curser over the title row until you see a small arrow. Click the arrow and move to "column" now choose the additional columns you like to see. Drives are mounted in /srv/.
