I want to add webmail to my OMV instance. I can create a symlink inside of /var/www/openmediavault and that sort of works. For instance, if my OMV is normally reached as omv/ the new sublink can be reached at omv/sublink. Ideally, what I want is a new top level URI. sublink/. The Nginx plugin seems to suggest I can do something like this. I haven't really figured it out. What is the preferred way to use host a website on OMV? Should I create an IP alias (how?) and listen on that? or should I lis…

  • @macom, you say do a "fresh install." I have a rich background of usage already on this system. what are the ramifications of starting over. that's really inconvient. i have existing LDAP, plugin settings, and so forth, not to mention multiple TB of data. what happens to all of that? i ran "groupadd openmediavault-config" and that seemed to get to the next level. are there any bad ramifications from that?

  • I am running roundcube 1.1.1 plugin within OMV 1.19. i am displaying an HTML email page which looks like the attached image. The broken images displayed refer to static images from a <img> tag with the src being another website on a remote host. For instance this one: static.mapmyfitness.com/d/emai…0/MapMyRun_email_logo.png I have my settings set to display HTML for this folder. How do I configure myself to display images?

  • i turned off my DAAP wasn't really using it anyway, now i get many pop-ups that say: "Failed to get configuration (xpath=//services/daap)"

  • Thank you tekkb. are there any other configurations i need to rebuild? i didn't find a man page for omv-mkconf nor was the usage state useful.

  • none of my NFS shares are accessible. all the directories under /export are no longer bind mounted. the web page indicates that they're still all available properly.

  • somehow the language had been unselected. i set it to english and i was able to login. that aside, how do i get it to auto mount my disks?

  • I've attached omv-upgrade.txt which is much of the output of the system. when it failed to do the upgrade, i manually ran apt-get upgrade which fixed some things. I then went and removed netatalk and openmediavault-netatalk and then re-installed afterwards (i wasn't using that anyway). the result is that i had a system that seemed to be okay. i rebooted, but although i could login via root using ssh, i cannot logon to the web interface. a normal login page appears and i type in the credentials t…

Honestly, the most useful plugin i can see would be an encrypted disk service. Data can be protected in the normal way on the LAN, but if the disk or machine is stolen, the files would be unrecoverable. This would necessarily ensue a two part "boot" though. Normal booting and exporting, but the files wouldn't be visible until someone logged in and typed in the correct password. I'm not a big fan of USB keys and such to do that (considered the "meat problem.")
