mDNS and forked-daapd 0.3.0.4 not working

  • Hello!

I just installed OMV 0.3.0.17 and also installed the forked-daapd plugin. Unfortunately, it didn't work out of the box. iTunes did not see the share.
After manually starting forked-daapd with "-d5 -f -m" it complained about not being able to add the service to mDNS:

    Zitat

    mdns: Re-registering openmediavault - iTunes/DAAP/_daap._tcp
mdns: Could not add mDNS services: Not permitted

The fix for that problem is:
change (insert #) the line "disable-publishing=yes" in /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf in the [publish] section:

    Code
    [publish]
    #disable-publishing=yes

... and restart the avahi-daemon, as well as the forked-mtdaapd.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Patrick

This may be an temporary solution, but DAAP is announced via avahi-daemon, thus it is disabled in forged-daapd, otherwise the DAAP service will be announced twice or a error will be thrown somewhere (avahi-daemon or forked-daapd). If the annoncement via avahi does not work this indicates that something is missconfigured.

Please check if avahi-daemon is running as first step.
