FTP not starting correctly

  • Hi,
i installed my omv 2 and set up ftp
if my server starts and i watch the dashboard, then the "running" dot for ftp is red. trying to connect with filezilla returns me "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused from server"
the clean log for ftp after a restart is here:

if i go to services -> ftp and disable ftp service and activate it then again, it runs correctly with a blue "running" dot.

what is going wrong? do you need some other info?

  • it is connecting
the last lines from the test site log:

why the hell is it 166,20 -> port 42516

i set 14100-14105 for passive ftp

  • it is a fritz box

if i open ALL ports from my server on the router settings it is able to connect

    edit:
wtf... now is all working. i changed nothing... same settings as before...
    weird software

    edit2:
the reboot problem doesnt occure now anymore -.-"

  • i located the problem.

it has to do sth with the omv firewall.
    my current firewall settings:

what port(s) i have to open additional?

    edit:
    current state is:

    • if i accept all input ftp connection works
    • if i reject all except the rules in shown picture it does not connect.
    • router settings do not care, they arent changed in the last test.

    tl;dr

    • INPUT - REJECT [ALL] -> no connection
    • INPUT - ACCEPT [ALL] -> connection
  • If you put in the appropriate info in this file you should not have to open ports in the firewall. It will do it automatically.

    /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf

    Code
    options nf_conntrack_ftp ports=21,14100,14101,14102,14103,14104,14105

Why do you want so many ports open????? This method here only opens ports when they are needed too.

  • file created.
going to lunch now. will be back in half an hour

    edit:
    all is working now.

i changed my firewall settings in omv. all ports in source are deleted. just destination ports entered
