rsync from ubuntu desktop to OMV share

    Hallo.
    My scenario is several ubuntu desktops in LAN and one OMV NAS 2.1.


    I want to backup the several clients home directories.


    I thought about the rsync pull service. I tried several ways but i always get an unspecified error message and the OMV does not connect to my desktop.
    My desktop clients have all opensh server installed and they are all accesible by sftp - zeroconfig services and userbased password access.


    Somebody can give me a hint howto setup the OMV side? Thanks

    Password doesn't work for rsync jobs, is stated there


    "The password that is used for access via rsync daemon. Note, this is not used for remote shell transport such as ssh"


    You can use public/private keys set. Place the private keys in the certificates section and place the public keys in each client and point them correctly at sshd_config
