After changing from DHCP to static eth0 and a new start of OMV the DNS entry in the resolv.conf is no longer exists:

Hi,

After changing from DHCP to static eth0 and a new start of OMV the DNS entry in the resolv.conf is
no longer exists:

root@NAS3:~# cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN

After changing from static to DHCP , DNS Eintag is available again:

root@NAS3:~# cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 192.168.0.1

How can Fix this?

What do you think dhcp is for?

put your DNS manually in the network configuration.

The entries I have all done manually via the WebGUI.null

after restart of OMV is the DNS entry but no longer in the

/etc/resolv.conf

available

Try /etc/init.d/networking restart

if it doesn't work just place the entry manually with nano in resolv.conf

Hi,
can someone please help me.

after the change of DHCP to Static IP, and a reboot I have no internet connection.

I need static IP.

@mixmaster,

Have you assign OMV IP to static in your router?
Ensure the OMV IP and MAC address is match in your router.
Reboot the router, and OMV after the process.

Subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0.
Double check your network settings in OMV web gui such as gateway, IP, DNS...

@tinh_x7 is right why are you looking for static ip when you can do dhcp lease reservation. Every router has that option.
