NVMe SSD not visible in "Physical Disks"

  • Hello,

I installed an Intel 750er Series NVMe in my SuperMicro System in order to use it for ISCSi. FYI, NVMe is a new standard for "Non Volatile Memory", i.e. SSDs, using a direct PCIe x4 link to the CPU and a new interface next to AHCI to surpass it's performance limitations in respects to modern SSDs (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NVM_Express).

The drive is correctly recognized by Debian (I'm running the OMV Stoneburner with the 3.16 backport kernel), but I can't "see" the disc in OMV under the Storage > Physical Disks. The problem seems to be that these disks reside under /dev/nvme* instead of /dev/sd*, in my case /dev/nvme0n1 for the first NVMe disk, /dev/nvme0n1p1 and /dev/nvme0n1p2 for two test partitions I created.

How can I explain to OMV that these /dev/nvme* are normal disks also, and friendly ask it to include them as such?

Thank you very much for any help!
