Needed a NAS for my office, and my old Xtreamer had a broken PSU.
But i can´t have a "ugly" nas on my office, i needed something to look at.
So i built a small-size replica of the D-wave X2 quantum computer.
I do alot of custom case-building, you will probably see alot more of my builds further on.
Been running OMV a couple of months now and i love it!
Hardware used
Mach Extreme SSD DOM - 16gb SSD-unit - for OS
1x4TB WD drive, 1x4TB Toshiba, 1x3TB Toshiba
1x640GB WD 2,5" drive
Asus E45M1-M PRO motherboard with 4gb DDR3 memory
And some cooling fans cooling the case.
Performance
Not running any kind of RAID, as this is not my primary backup.
File transfer at 95+MB/s and i tested with copying files and streaming from it with no problems, at the same time.
The box
Made from 2,3 and 4mm acrylic.
This is what the real deal looks like, originally its almost 10ft high
And my replica
I didnt add the front-racks to my replica, but overall a identical copy
It´s a RGB-led behind the logo, so it can show whatever color i like.
When i feel a bit evil, i use red
