Problem with building OMV-Plugins cloned from Github

  • Hello,

    I want to clone updated plugins from github repository and install them
    but i stuck with building packages.

    If I run dpkg-buildpackage it throw an error: "dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules clean gave error exit status 126"

    What can I do ? Any suggestions ?

    Thank you.

    What plugin? Make sure the plugin is not in the middle of changes. Why are you building from github?

    Need more output than just that one line. I'm guessing you are missing a dependency to create the package.

  • Plugin that I want: openmediavault-openvpn

    I clone it from github because I need most updated one, OpenVPN from OMV-Extras is quite old.

    I also tried other plugins and realized that plugins which I cannot build
    has in debian/rules file only:

    #!/usr/bin/make -f
    %: dh $@

    Other plugins work and build fine.

    Thank you

    Um... no, the version in omv-extras isn't old. I always release the plugin when it is ready. Any newer changes on github are probably not ready for most plugins. The newer files for openvpn you see on github are for OMV 3.x. It would not work on OMV 2.x. Why do you need a new version?

    You do know that the plugin doesn't determine what version of openvpn (or any package) is installed, right? OMV 2.x is based on Debian Wheezy which means openvpn 2.2.1 will be installed no matter what plugin version you use. OMV 3.x (which is not ready) will be based on Debian Jessie and probably use openvpn 2.3.x.
