It would probably help if you posted a screen capture of where you are in mc right now.
But basically, you should have a file listing in both panels. Then in one panel, navigate up the tree and then down to one drive's mount point. Do the same in the other panel for the other drive.
I tried to copy and past the contents of mc but for some reason it would not work, not real great with linux command line.
I am including my list of drive using lsblk.
What would be the command (cp) for copying a directory /Downloads1 from sda1 to /Downloads1a on sdb1?
me
root@raspberrypi:~# lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 931.5G 0 disk
└─sda1 8:1 0 931.5G 0 part /media/d2e16d9d-5cae-4c46-86ac-22500da8c28
sdb 8:16 0 931.5G 0 disk
└─sdb1 8:17 0 931.5G 0 part /media/034b3ee0-19b3-44dd-a5bf-4eefca9cb64
mmcblk0 179:0 0 7.4G 0 disk
├─mmcblk0p1 179:1 0 56M 0 part /boot
├─mmcblk0p2 179:2 0 3.3G 0 part /
└─mmcblk0p3 179:3 0 4.1G 0 part /media/fa36508a-b3c4-4499-b30a-711dd599422
In MC you simply open both folders in the left and right pane.
Select all the files/folders you want to copy or move using the ins key or right clicking them.
Then Decide if you want to copy or move. Copy will make a copy of the files in the directory you have open in the other pane. Move will move the files to the other pane and remove them from the source.
Once you have your files selected. (They turn yellow) press F5 to copy or F6 to move.
I finally figured it out, I was looking for a Drive it actually was listed as media when i clicked on that, there was my list of directories .
Thank you Rich Prim
One last question, after setting up the copy to the second drive do I have to keep the computer I ssh'ed running or can i close ssh and will it continue to do the copy?
Rich Prim
You have to keep the SSH open for it to continue. The session will close if you disconnect from ssh.
And yes all your mounts show up under media labeled with the UUID. You can create symlinks if you find it hard to remember which is which. I keep a folder called mounts with symlinks to the actual mounts.
If you want to close the ssh session and have mc continue the copy, start a screen:
Run processes in SSH and be able to reconnect to them later via screen
