omv-update Command not found & no Webgui

  • Hello

    I have a big problem
I think i was on OMV 2.?? and tried a update via
    apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade && omv-update

Now are all commands not found
omv-update -bash: omv-update: Kommando nicht gefunden.
omv-release-upgrade -bash: omv-release-upgrade: Kommando nicht gefunden.
omv-firstaid -bash: omv-firstaid: Kommando nicht gefunden.

    WebGUI says
    403 Forbidden

    Samba is working

    So what can i do?
I dont want to reinstall and configure all new.

    Really big thanks

You partially upgraded to OMV 3.x (bad idea) and now your system is a mess. You must have executed omv-release-upgrade instead of omv-update. Why are you updating from the command line?

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

Why did the GUI have many errors? Either way, the system is in a bad state. I recommend a reinstall.

Nope. That is the reason why we recommend cloning your system once it is setup (and when any major changes happen).

  • I got the same error. I want to upgrade to the current version. Currently running on 1.19. I have read, that before you perform an upgrade you should be up to date.
When I try to update over the web gui I get the following error while checking for updates:

I found this discussion Error updating Secondary OMV-extras "Failed to execute command 'export LANG=C; apt-get update 2>&1. I tried some ideas but they didn't worked:

    • Set the DNS to 192.168.1.1 / 8.8.8.8 over the webgui --> Same error

    • apt-get clean
    • update:

    • upgrade:
    • removed and rebuild the /var/lib/apt/list directory

My lists files are looking like this:
    openmediavault.list

    Code
    deb http://packages.openmediavault.org/public kralizec main
    # deb http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/openmediavault/packages kralizec main

    sources.list

I removed the last line and could get rid of the duplicate error, but still no updates over gui.

I tried the omv-update command nonetheless but got the same message op got:

    Code
    omv-update
    zsh: command not found: omv-update

The result of 'dpkg -l | grep openm' looks like this:

    Code
ii openmediavault 1.19 all Open network attached storage solution
ii openmediavault-keyring 0.3 all GnuPG archive keys of the OpenMediaVault archive

I have no idea how linked these problems are and if it is something with the DNS or whatnot. A little bit of light into this darkness would be very appreciated.

    Greetings Henning

The transmission ubuntu repo is not helping your cause. Get rid of it the reverse way you added it. To upgrade, 1.19 is up to date so just omv-release-upgrade.

  • Thanks for the fast answer!
I haven't used Transmission for long while now, I removed the packages with 'apt-get remove'. The update worked afterwards :)

The upgrade did also work. My fault was that I was logged into SSH with a normal user, I had to switch to SU to get to the omv-* programs.
Had some problem with nginx and SSH keys, this answer helped solve the problem.

    :)
