Thanks!
Hopefully you can reproduce my situation and find a solution.I appreciate your effort!

Did you manage to confirm the problem?

Sorry, haven't had time. I do work for a school on the side and they had their main server and backup taken out by a storm. Only backup was way too old. I really don't like working with Windows either

Finally got my mac running and tested this problem. I was able to reproduce it. I also figured out why. OS X uses the username "nobody" when accessing AFP as a guest. So, I gave nobody R/W privileges under ACL for the share. That didn't work. So, then I added nobody to the line in /etc/netatalk/AppleVolumes.default as shown below and it worked!
"/media/uuid/test/" "test" options:upriv,usedots allow:aaron,testuser,nobody rolist:testuser rwlist:aaron,nobody

Zitat von "ryecoaaron"
"/media/uuid/test/" "test" options:upriv,usedots allow:aaron,testuser,nobody rolist:testuser rwlist:aaron,nobody
Does this mean that nobofy MUST be added to the allowed user list in general. User 'nobody' is not listed in the privileges dialog.
Another solution might be adding a checkbox 'Allow guest' in the AFP shared folder options dialog which will add 'nobody' to the allowed user list.
It is necessary to clarify which user is used by OSX when accessing the shared folder.
Please open a bug report if something has to be done in the plugin code.

I don't think 'nobody' needs to be in the privileges dialog. I think two checkboxes in the AFP shared folder dialog would work. One for allow guest (read only) and one for r/w privileges for the guest??
I will open a bug report but I haven't got the email yet for signing up with Mantis.
