Installed OMV 1 wih kernel 4.5 (because of my cu and motherboard) upgrade to omv2,then 3, and finally started to configure it.
Never had a particular problem, most of them are my fault
Is OMV3 (Erasmus) still in beta or is it considered stable?

Thanks for the reply, if I do a fresh install is there a way to transfer all settings from my 2 install to prevent reconfigure?

No.

omv 3.x is stable. The upgrade process needs some work. A fresh install is very stable.
I did not know that there were plans to try to make the upgrade process actually usable. I figured it had been written off as a lost cause.

I figured it had been written off as a lost cause.
There are a few more ideas out there on how to help it. While I haven't had many upgrades complete with error, I haven't had a personal upgrade that I couldn't fix. I know that doesn't help noobs. Personally, I don't think noobs should do upgrades. There are distros that don't support upgrades as well (RHEL, CentOS come to mind). So, it isn't unreasonable to expect people to do a fresh install for new major versions.

Thanks Ryecoaaron
By the way what kinda hardware do you use to run all those virtual machines, I was thinking of the Promox solution as well as there is the added bonus of LXC.

Supermicro X10SL7-F with Xeon 1285L v3, 16gb of ram, and a bunch of 128/256gb SSDs.

I, along with many others, use VirtualBox. I have no idea what LXC is or if VirtualBox supports it, but if all you are looking to do is test OMV in a virtual environment, it's good.

LXC is a container system that still uses the host kernel. Virtualbox is full virtualization and doesn't support this. Proxmox does both and is quite a bit faster than virtualbox.

Hi,
Is this dnsmasq plugin compatible for OMV3?

Hi,
Is this dnsmasq plugin compatible for OMV3?
No, you'll need to set up dnsmasq manually.
I would love to see a dnsmasq/pi-hole plugin.
-
OK.
1. If I install this manually, do I have the dnsmasq GUI?
2. Anybody know any folder dnsmasq that I should add it to folder2ram?

Why is OMV3 using an old kernel?

Why is OMV3 using an old kernel?
Because OMV is Debian Jessie (8.x) and that is the kernel it uses. omv-extras has a button to install the backports 4.7 (soon to be 4.8) kernel. Why do you need a newer kernel?
-
FWIW, I've upgraded to 3.0.53 and its working fine.
But I'm strictly running a NAS with SMB and no plugins.
Working great 2 days now.

Did you look at the pxe plugin info tab? It has just about everything you need.

Hi
Since ZFS won't get any updates for OMV2 anymore I just started to install OMV3 on a spare drive for testing since moving on to OMV3 is now inevitable.
Since some plugins aren't ported to OMV3 yet is there any kind of timeline when it will become stable - I know there isn't any ETA but many ppl are already using OMV3 and I wonder what keeps OMV3 from getting stable status

The luks plugin is the only plugin in my opinion that needs to be finished (uploads aren't working).

What do you need for you to think it is stable? The only place it is labeled beta is on the ISOs which are 22+ revisions old now. I have been telling people for quite a while that it is stable.
