Hi
I trying to make rsync to work for couple hours but without success.
My aim is to copy and synchronize folder eg. "Multimedia" from "Media-server" to "Backup-server"
Both NAS-es are in one ethernet.
Media-server runs on OMV 0.4.17.
Backup-server runs on OMV 0.3
Can somebody who has successfully established similar setup, share this knowledge how to step by step do it.
regards
RSync on OMV step by step

I also would like to sync a particular folder between two OMV servers and dont really know where to start. does only one server need a rsync server running? Whats a module? I only seem to be able to select a share to backup, and not a particular folder within the share. Help much appreciated.

Well Rsync is not that simple. Why don't you tell us exactly what you want to do.

I have built two NAS servers they are of the same hardware built
and they have worked well in the last year.
I have built two for safety so that if one fails I'm do not lose all photo,s.
these are mainly pictures, photos of deceased family.
but now it has become bigger with another photo, s 1 Tb of maps wih picture,s
now I want to sync between this two nas within the network.
Its runs on openmediavault 0.4.26 Fedaykin.
sorry for my bad english.
and yes Rsync is not that simple that why
step by step would be nice.
with best regards Eric. -
Here is my setup.
System #1 - important files stored here - OMV 0.5
System #2 - backup of important files - OMV 0.5 - ip address 192.168.1.17On system #2, go to Services -> Rsync. Check enable and add a module using default settings. We will call this module photos.
On system #1, go to System -> Cron Jobs. Add a cron job to run at whatever time is good for you and use the following command:
Simple

okay, but I have in every server two harddisk.
and de photos map is not in the home map.
it is on /dev/sdb1 (in WinSCP the path is /media/bf298cc9-2bf5-4ac4-a9a0-46939a03446e/photos
so that's not so simple after all.
I'm one step closer now i no that it has to do with cron job.
but thanks for your help -
It should be easy to modify what I posted but show me the exact paths you want to back up.
-
master server ip 192.168.178.40 path is /dev/sda1/ fotobestanden (last word is Dutch for photo folder)
for backup i have one server on ip 192.168.178.37 path is /dev/sdb1/fotobestandenit says name:fotos volume: terabytertwo path : fotobestanden comment : allerlei foto bestanden used : yes
I hope you're not confused by the dutch name,s.
thanks in advance. -

I think I should use this
rsync -avr /media/bf298cc9-2bf5-4ac4-a9a0-46939a03446e/fotobestanden http://192.168.178.37/fotobestanden
Now its copy all the folders with photos
when copying is finished I will let you know if it worked
I do not know how I did it LOL
Thanks for the help.
