logrotate not working?

Logrotate is on a weekly base.

what says:
ls -Al /var/log/daemon*

when was this file created?

Perhaps it is not about logrotate but some of your packages spamming the log (debug etc.)?

If you have 220 GiB of logs in daemon.log, logrotate is not the issue. I would look to see what is logging so much.

Yep, you only want to leave samba on debug for a short timeframe.
