Upgrading from Perc 6ir to H200

  • Hello Everyone,

I recently flashed a Perc6iR to IT mode and installed a couple drives in raid0. I just purchased an H200 and will be flashing that to IT mode and swapping out the Perc6iR on my R710. My question is, will I be able to swap the cards without having to do any changes to OMV or my raid array, etc?

    Thanks,

    Wei

If you were using the cards for raid, no. But since you are basically using the card as a sata/sas card and software raid, OMV won't even notice. Turn it off, swap cards, turn it on. Everything should just boot. I have done this with other types of raid cards before.

  • Hi,

I was able to get the dell Perc H200 flashed to IT mode and booted OMV back up. But now my raid is gone. Under file systems I have a line with status MISSING. Under raid management there is nothing.

    fdisk sees the two drives:

    Disk /dev/sdb: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
    256 heads, 63 sectors/track, 242251 cylinders, total 3907029168 sectors
    Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sdb1 1 3907029167 1953514583+ ee GPT
Partition 1 does not start on physical sector boundary.

    But blkid doesnt:

    /dev/sda1: UUID="d79f18d1-73f5-402d-9708-6f3a46c09681" TYPE="ext4"
    /dev/sda5: UUID="b8c0b349-48b3-4137-9b3f-622edf7efccf" TYPE="swap"
    /dev/sr0: LABEL="OpenMediaVault" TYPE="iso9660"

Am I pretty much screwed at this point? I didn't make a backup as I was hoping this would be a swap without any issues (that is my fault). Is there anything I can try to recover this? This was a straight raid0 setup.

    Thanks,
