Subject says it all, I'm new to linux as well as openmediavault, I've succesfully set up my plex plugin, however I'd like to be able to transfer my media from my old windows system to new one running openmediavault.
I've created my shares but when I go to enable, It comes back with the above error.
If there's other information I should be providing let me know.
Thanks in advance.

communication error happens when OMV's web server is restarted or the system is under heavy load. Shouldn't be causing a problem. Post pics of your samba settings and share tabs.

Can you delete the shares and see if you can enable samba on the settings tab, save and apply?
-
I get the same error...
-
What kind of system is this?
-
-
HP Compaq Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20 GHz 4 gigs of memory.

What type of media is OMV installed on? I would also use OMV 3.x instead of OMV 2.x.
-
OMV is on a 500 gb sata drive (smallest I have) and the shares are on a 4 terabyte and 1 terabyte sata drives.
I thought OMV 3.x was still beta? Thats why I went with 2.2. Also I read that it would be best to do a fresh install with 3.x? -
-
Omv 3.x is good to go. I thought you were working with a fresh install? I'm not sure what else could be wrong with the system.
-
lol, I'm doing a fresh install of 3.0 now.
-
Uhgg, just installed 3.0.54 and updated, still getting the same error.

All drives are ext4 formatted. I'm watching your video and will double check some of my settings.
Thanks -
Thanks for the video, I re-applied the share drives and created a user. I think the user may not have had access to the "samba" group? At any rate, I was able to enable samba/cifs and access the shares.
Thanks again. -
