Which option to use for external access

  • Hi, I'm new on OMV and on this forum and maybe the answer is in the forum but I couldn't find it yet.

    I've installed OMV(Erasmus) on a Raspberry pi3 and it works fine in my network.

    But I would also like to access my files from other locations.
    Is there an option or a plugin to achieve (secured) access to my files via Internet.

    ssh works. Open the ssh port on your router. Then you can connect to your box with putty or winscp.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • thanks for your fast answer. forwarded port 22 for the Raspberry.
    Using putty I can access OMV over my internal adress but access over my external adress seems te refused, I can't get connected.
    SSH in OMV is "on" and on the SSH-page only compression is "off".
    Port 22 is forwarded for TCP and UDP.
    Anybody any idea where this newby is going wrong?

    You router must not be letting the connection through. Your OMV configuration is correct if you can access it locally.

    It's easier if you use NextCloud or Seafile.

    Easier than enabling ssh and using WinSCP? I will take the security of ssh over both of those as well.

    Not sure if your RPI is capable handle this though.

    The RPi can handle both.
