Error "Failed to connect to socket: No such file or directory" while logging in

  • Hello,

I have made the mistake of installing mailutils that has deleted my GUI. I have installed opnemediavault once more but now when I log in, I get following error:

    Error #0:exception 'OMV\Rpc\Exception' with message 'Failed to connect to socket: No such file or directory' in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/rpc.inc:138Stack trace:#0 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc/session.inc(56): OMV\Rpc\Rpc::call('UserMgmt', 'authUser', Array, Array, 2, true)#1 [internal function]: OMVRpcServiceSession->login(Array, Array)#2 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/serviceabstract.inc(124): call_user_func_array(Array, Array)#3 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/rpc.inc(84): OMV\Rpc\ServiceAbstract->callMethod('login', Array, Array)#4 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/proxy/json.inc(95): OMV\Rpc\Rpc::call('Session', 'login', Array, Array, 3)#5 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc.php(45): OMV\Rpc\Proxy\Json->handle()#6 {main}

I have checked and I have following plugin installed:

    ii openmediavault 3.0.59
    rc openmediavault-flashmemory 3.4.3
    ii openmediavault-keyring 1.0
    rc openmediavault-netatalk 3.2.5
    rc openmediavault-omvextrasorg 3.4.16
    rc openmediavault-remotemount 3.0.2
    rc openmediavault-resetperms 3.2
    rc openmediavault-wol 3.1

If I launch in the terminal (as root) omv-engined -df, the gUI opens normally.

    Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks a lot,
    daniele

    How did "install" OMV again?

    I would try:

    omv-mkconf nginx
    omv-mkconf php5fpm
    systemctl restart php5-fpm
    systemctl restart nginx

    Then post the output of:
    grep openmediavault /etc/passwd
    ls -al /var/www/openmediavault

Not sure. I've never seen the web interface work in debug mode but not regular.

    rm -f /var/cache/openmediavault/*.json

Clear your browser cache or try a different browser.

    Login again.

I don't know what "nothing" means. You didn't say how you re-intalled either. Not sure what else to try since it is difficult to know what damage was inflicted when you installed mailutils (no idea why it was needed). You might just have to re-install OMV.

I just tried intalling mailutils on a test VM and it didn't affect OMV. Are you sure you didn't install something else??
