[OMV.lan] Panic or segfault in Samba

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 3196 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log
files may contain additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Debian. For information about the procedure for submitting bug reports,
please see http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting or the reportbug(1)
    manual page.

Quit anyway? (y or n) [answered Y; input not from terminal]

Despite this, I do not notice any malfunction with shares. I have no idea if it can be serious.

    If someone can advise.

    Thanks.

  • I also have had this same problem the past couple of weeks. I did install the samba debugging package I I get the same output as what is above. I have read old threads from various sources, but not explain what the fix is but to upgrade samba. As this thread has no replies, hasn't anyone else ran into this issue? Anyone with thoughts on any corrective things to try?

  • I'm sorry I can't help.
The problem disappeared without doing anything.
    Maybe some OMV update.
    I don't know.

  • Came here because I'm getting this email now too and I don't know why. SMB seems to work fine.

  • From time to time (rarely), the message comes back.
I do not understand what's going on.
All the shares works very well ...So I do not care.
I did not find a solution.

    Sorry can't help.

  • I think it has something to do with smb.conf but I haven't figured it out. I read some threads from 3 years ago where folks had this problem and it went away if they restarted samba with a default smb.conf and then put their smb.conf back? weird.
