    • A lot of issues :(

      Hi

I am totally new to openmediavault, I have tried FreeNAS in the past but never used it for long. I am a total noob in unix/linux as well.

My first issue is with FTP, I am neither able to login with the root or a user i have created. If autonomous login is enabled I am able to reach.

The second thing is regarding the copying of files, I tried to rsysnc the data from an HDD on to my raid, but it comes cased in folders. Now I am lost as to how to move the data back to the root share folder. Neither am i able to delete the data from the share folder, it gives me permission issue in windows.

The third being that though I am able to SSH with root account, the user I have created cannot do SSH.

    • your shared folder is MediaC and files ere in the root folder = /media,

You can't rsync /media, but you can share or rsync /media/MediaC

Please NEVER share a root folder, share a data folder like /media/MediaC or /media/Video or /media/MediaC/Video or something simmilar.

But the Share Media is under the root folder MediaVault, right ? MediaVault is the root, on which the file system is created.

Media looks like your root storage folder. You shouldn't be using that as a shared folder, so you shouldn't be accessing it on the network directly.
Your shared folders should be Jobin and MediaC.
I think there is definitely something wrong in what I am doing !!
