Samba Timemachine integration (PR from github)

  • Hi,

    Just a quick question regarding SAMBA:

    Would it be possible to integrate the below PR into the SMB Version for OMV (3.X / 4.X)?

    I know that in this case it would not be possible to use the original debian version of Samba, but instead it would also allow to use more recent version.

    Would it be possible to use this "special" Samba version in OMV repository?

    Regards

    BBsan

    Volker likes to use packages from the Debian repo to avoid having to maintain additional packages. It may also break the plugin if it has a different config file.

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.9 | compose 7.0.9 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

  • Currently it pretty much looks like this will be integrated into main branch sooner or later.

    Would it be an option to use this in omvextras testing until then?

    No because I don't want to maintain the samba package. I highly doubt this will show up in Jessie or Stretch. You need a bleeding edge distro to ever see this. Your only real option is to build it yourself.
