And still no luck
could it help to run the command apt-get install libssl1.0.0=1.0.1t-1+deb8u6 and select "Y" at the end, even if it says that one will not be upgraded

Not if it is going to remove OMV and plugins in the process.
ups ... makes sense
So I might have better luck reinstalling from scratch ?
1st time I installed OMV 2.x after one week or so, I installed OMV 3.x from scratch over it.
And I just installed the Omvextra repo for 3.x
Is it better to install OMV 2.x and upgrade ?
Or to delete the partition again and install from scratch ?
Also I used the backup plugin and backed up my OMV, how do I go about to restore it, there is no option in the webgui.

Yes.

Definitely not.

It isn't easy. Backup a live system
Well, I ended up talking the easy way out, I re-installed.
So, now problem solved
Anyway thanks to you all for helping me out
