Which updates to install?

  • Hey guys,
Just a quick question as to which of the non-omv updates to install?

Let me first give a bit of background.
First time I installed OMV, I went through and started downloading all of the updates, but then it got to one and said that there was some lacking firmware. After this, I couldn't access the nas via the webui.
Me being the debian uneducated fool that I am, I just went ahead and reinstalled the OS as there was nothing on it yet anyways.

So, should I try to download them all, or just leave them and only update omv as those appear?

  • A little bit hard to help here.

The rule of thumb is: Install all updates from debian and OMV.

The error message of what actually is lacking firmware would be very interesting for additional consulting on this. But I guess, you do not have any details anymore.

Everything is possible, sometimes it requires Google to find out how.

Just guessing but the firmware is probably a network adapter or video card and the firmware is in the non-free Debian repository.
