fan control not compatible?

  • Hi all

as my chassis fan (attached to cpu fan pin on MB) runs at 1088rpm and my cpu is passive cooled i would like to spin it down a nodge.

I´m a newb so please be gentle.

I found no plugin on 2.2.14 stone burner so i´m trying to install with ssh

    when typing:

    • Download it: wget https://github.com/fergbrain/omvsensors/archive/master.zip
    • download completes as it should
    • Unpack it: unzip master.zip
    • gives me "command not found"
    • I have sensors:
    • coretemp-isa-0000
    • Adapter: ISA adapter
      Core 0: +23.0°C (crit = +100.0°C)
      Core 1: +26.0°C (crit = +100.0°C)

      atk0110-acpi-0
      Adapter: ACPI interface
      Vcore Voltage: +1.13 V (min = +0.85 V, max = +1.60 V)
      +3.3 Voltage: +3.39 V (min = +2.97 V, max = +3.63 V)
      +5 Voltage: +4.98 V (min = +4.50 V, max = +5.50 V)
      +12 Voltage: +12.24 V (min = +10.20 V, max = +13.80 V)
CPU FAN Speed: 1088 RPM (min = 600 RPM, max = 7200 RPM)
CHASSIS FAN Speed: 0 RPM (min = 600 RPM, max = 7200 RPM)
      CPU Temperature: +48.0°C (high = +60.0°C, crit = +95.0°C)
      GPU Temperature: +45.0°C (high = +60.0°C, crit = +95.0°C)

      nouveau-pci-0300
      Adapter: PCI adapter
      temp1: +53.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +110.0°C)

  • Instead of:

    unzip master.zip

    Try this:

    gunzip master.zip

    OMV AMD64 7.x on headless Chenbro NR12000 1U 1x 8m Quad Core E3-1220 3.1GHz 32GB ECC RAM.

  • Something is wrong with the way that file was compressed. I was able to unzip it on my Linux Mint box using Archive Manager.

  • oh :(

Do you know anything about getting fan control to work in omv? either directly in web interface or in ssh terminal (or what it´s called in debian language) ?

I´ve used google but i can´t seem to find anything i can get to work.

    7zip works as well.

    apt-get install p7zip-full
    wget https://github.com/fergbrain/omvsensors/archive/master.zip
    7z x master.zip

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.

Fan control on my machine (Asrock C2550DI) is handled by the BIOS. The OMV Sensors package does not recognize the fans, so their speeds are not reported or graphed by OMV.

Also, the OMV Sensors plugin does not control fans. It might tell you how fast they are turning if it is compatible with your MB.
