rm /var/cache/openmediavault/*.json
systemctl restart nginx
systemctl restart php5-fpm

nginx and php5 run because nextcloud runs just fine..nextcloud running fine has nothing to do with restarting php5fpm and nginx. That is done to accommodate new settings from installation of OMV packages.
Did you try running the commands?

Not sure what else to try...
Reinstall OMV package? apt-get install --reinstall openmediavault
Remove nginx plugin? apt-get remove openmediavault-nginx (this won't remove your settings for when you reinstall - purge would)

what about the ReferenceError messages "Ext is not defined"

I solved it by a complete reinstallation of OMV..
