Error in system logs

  • I'm getting the following messages (by the thousands) in my system log:

    Code
    May 28 15:06:19 openmediavault kernel: [462550.598892] end_request: I/O error, dev sdf, sector 2070

Attached is my boot log. OMV had problems booting. I've tried looking at my SMART log but I'm not clear on what it's telling me... Normally when a drive goes bad it becomes obvious but I can't figure out what's going with my system. The boot log says drive 4 died (I think that's sdf), which is a parity drive for SnapRaid. SMART log doesn't really say anything about the drive being dead, but then again I don't know where/how SMART logs would even say that.

    thanks

  • I'm running 2.2.13, which is only one release behind the most current 2.2.14 I think?

  • If the disk is dead, I wish that smartctl would just say something like "your disk is dead". The boot log is maybe the most informative, telling me that Disk4 has errors and fsck fails.
