SSL certs for plugins web pages

  • Hello,

I've installed openmediavault a few days back, managed to configure it and using with success OpenVPN, PLEX Media Server,FTP, Downloader and as i've said Letsencrypt. I get into problems when i try to use the web-gui/web interfaces for the Plex Media Server, Deluge and i guess i'll get into the same problems when i'll try some other plugins that has a web-interface/gui. My problem is as follows:

when i try to access the web interface of Plex Media Server, my Letsencrypt certificate it's not valid (see attached picture) but the certificate is valid for the default home page of my OMV. I'm using it trough noip.com DDNS service and i run the OMV on port 9090 and 9494 for ssl, this is because on the port 80 and 443 i have another server that i use as a web server (apache). I'm guessing that browsers get confused when i access the OMV with a valid certificate and then when i click on the tab named Plex Web Client it get's me to an unsecured page and doesn't allow me to add it to exceptions. My question is: Do I have to install a certificate for every web-page of an plugin (if yes, please explain me how). I would prefer to use https then http so if there's a way to do this please let me know. I think that i can use https for OMV page and http for other( please explain me how) although I would prefer https. For Deluge I have the same problem, in order to use the Web client i have to use a different browser. Or maybe i have to add a new conf file in nginx for every webgui/site . If i use a different browser for https and http then i have no issues, but I want it to work from one browser as well. Help will be much appreciated. :)))

  • Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I've upgraded to the latest version now. 3.0.79 but the issue is still present, do i need to change something after upgrade in order for this to work?

  • I've been having exactly the same issue. I used the LetsEncrypt plugin to get a signed SSL cert and now I can access the OMV admin page through https and I don't get a warning from my browser. When I try to access any other services configuration/admin page remotely with https, I can connet, but I always get a browser warning.

It was suggested to me that I use the Nginx plugin to configure each services configuration web page manually. I was able to get the Nginx plugin working - that is, I can get to the "Welcome to Nginx!" page and my SSL cert from LetsEncrypt works. I cannot figure out how to configure existing configuration webpages through the Nginx plugin though.

For instance, I am using syncthing, which is working great, and I can access the syncthing configuration webpage remotely but, it will not use my signed cert. How can I add the existing syncthing page to the Nginx server I setup? My apologies if this question does not actually make any sense. I've never used Nginx before and am very much a novice user.

    Thanks
