Upgraded from 2 to 3. Get Web GUI up but with Logon Error and omv-engined service not existing

  • Hi People.

    I have just upgraded omv from v2 to v3 (using: apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade && omv-update; and finally.. omv-release-upgrade)

At the end of the upgrade there was an error (listed in the text below)..
Creating index of upgradeable packages ...
Creating index of openmediavault plugins ...
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
    root@***:~#

    I rebooted omv and ran
    apt-get -f install

    after which I ran
    omv-initsystem

I can get the web gui up but when I log in I get the following error:
"Failed to connect to socket: No such file or directory"

I also get the same error when I try to update the login password using omv-firstaid.

During all of this, I received the following email error messages from monit alert..

    • Execution failed omv-engined; and
    • Does not exist Service omv-engined

    I then ran
    omv-engined -df

The output of which indicated a PHP fatal error regarding couchpotato.. (error listed below)
PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'openmediavault/config.inc' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/openmediavault/engined/rpc/couchpotato.inc on line 20

Not sure what to do.. it looks like there are a couple of issues needing fixing.. one is with the couchpotato plugin and the other is the omv-engined service.

I have a look at various threads (thats how I got this far... lol) but am a little lost.
    Would appreciate some help

    Cheers
    David :)

  • HI Votdev
Thank you so much for your response. I have got it working.

Just for the record, these are the steps I undertook.

First I purged omvextras plugins with the following:
    apt-get purge openmediavault-omvextrasorg

Then I re-installed them (omvextras plugins) via the following
    wget http://omv-extras.org/openmedi…extrasorg_latest_all3.deb
    dpkg -i openmediavault-omvextrasorg_latest_all3.deb
    apt-get update

Then I removed the couchpotato plugin with the following
    apt-get purge openmediavault-couchpotato

    I then reran
    omv-engined -df

To find that now Sickbeard was causing an issue.

I removed the Sickbeard plugin with the following:
    apt-get purge openmediavault-sickbeard

On reruning omv-engined -df - there were no more errors.

I could then log onto the web GUI :)
