      Hi, is there anybody have success installing ZoneMinder in OMV 3.x. I tried following jhmiller installation but couldn't get it to work. I followed the instruction also in the Zoneminder website in installing in Debian 8 but as usual no luck as well. I already spend hours on this and running out of ideas to try.

      Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks.
    • As of the moment I'm trying Robert suggestion as most post here recommend Docker which I don't have an idea ... until someone replied with more information.... for somebody else looking follow instruction below.... cheers....

      hi, sorry for the ignorance. I search for the step by step instruction that most of the people in this tread is mentioning but I can't seem to find it. could someone please point me to that instruction. I've search from 1 to 7 of this thread but all I see is pieces of this so called step by step instructions. Thanks in advance.
      If your system works with docker, try docker.It is the easiest and fastes way to get zoneminder running.

      Fast steps for zoneminder and docker:
      Install omv-extra repo
      Aktivate docker repo.
      Install docker plugin
      Activate docker in services
      Pull Image in docker
      Start Image
      ZM is running

      Cheers Robert
    • Please first install omv-extra:
      omv-extras.org/joomla/index.php/guides

      If this done have a loog in the omv-extra point in the webgui of omv.
      Activate there docker repo stabel
      Make an apt-clean and a update
      Go to plugin
      Install docker-gui

      go to docker under services in omv services
      Activate docker.

      If this is done let me know

    • Go into the Docker Service.
      Push Pull Image
      Repo add dlandon/zoneminder
      Push Start
      After downloading close the downloadwindow.
      Refresh
      Select the dlandon zoneminder and push Run Image

      Do the setting like in the screenshot and hit run.
      But first du need to know on which port your cams work.
      in my example you see 554 for the cams to connect.

      The webserver is listening on 8080. Select an other one if there is already a service on this port.

      Beware if you do a change in zoneminder you need to commit this in the docker omv gui.

    • Thanks no_Legend for the tutorial, I have successfully installed zoneminder on OMV 3, I think I can now upgrade my OMV 2 to OMV 3. :thumbsup:

      Could you please advise how I can implement zoneminder using a dedicated disk inside docker?

      In OMV2 without docker, I just edit /etc/fstab like this:

      /newdrive/zoneminder/images /var/lib/zoneminder/images none defaults,bind 0 2
      /newdrive/zoneminder/events /var/lib/zoneminder/events none defaults,bind 0 2

      How can it be done inside docker?

      Thanks again no_Legend you are a legend :thumbsup: for answering my queries...
    • Found what I did wrong ... followed the procedure below and everything works.... thanks a lot everybody....

      I was also intrested in the Docker solution and got it working. Here is how I made it.
      I'm new to Docker, so I'm sure there are improvements to this guide.

      Presetup:
      - You need the Docker-GUI plugin up and running
      The docker image stores files into a config path, which is used for the image captures too.
      - Create a shared folder (not sure which priviliges are need to be set, but I gave this folder all read/write)
      is used /media/mystorageID/zoneminder

      Instructions to run docker image:

      - Go into Docker Gui and Pull Image (github.com/aptalca/docker-zoneminder)
      ->Parameters: aptalca/docker-zoneminder
      - If sucessfully pulled run that image:
      -> Restart on system reboot, Run container in privileged mode, sync time with host all on
      -> Bridge (no host name)
      -> Portforwarding
      -> 0.0.0.0 Host Port 90 Exposedport 80 (80 is not working so choose some other port for the web-gui, click the plus or its not saved)
      -> 0.0.0.0 Host Port 8080 Exposedport 8080 (this is used for forwarding the broadcast of the webcams, click the plus or its not saved)
      -> Environment (default paths are fine)
      -> Extra Args
      -> -v /media/mystorageID/zoneminder:/config:rw (maybe this could be also done with the Volume and Bind mounts)

      Now look into the log if the docker image is started.

      Open "YOURNASADRESS:90/zm" in the Browser.
      Basic Zoneminder setup as described in the docker image

      - In the WebUI, click on Options in the top right corner and go to the Display Tap and change Skin to Flat (much better)
      - The container includes avconv (ffmpeg variant) and cambozola but they need to be enabled in the settings
      - Go to the Images tab
      - Click on the box next to OPT_Cambozola to enable
      - Click on the box next OPT_FFMPEG to enable ffmpeg
      - Enter the following for ffmpeg path: /usr/bin/avconv
      - Enter the following for ffmpeg "output" options: -r 30 -vcodec libx264 -threads 2 -b 2000k -minrate 800k -maxrate 5000k (you can change these options to your liking)
      - Next to ffmpeg_formats, add mp4 (you can also add a star after mp4 and remove the star after avi to make mp4 the default format)
      - Hit save

      For testing:
      As described in the following link you can use ur smartphone as ip webcam
      plus.google.com/111475821387295047208/posts/arJPF7adB2Y

      - Download the application IP Webcam from Pas from the Android Market. Use the default settings for this pass, and go right to Start server.
      - You will see a URL with IP number at the bottom of the screen. This live video is available at the URL irrespective of whether zoneminder is integrated.
      - Login to zoneminder and add a camera. Use these settings:
      Source Type == remote
      Maximum FPS == see Video Setup in your smartphone APP
      Remote Protocol == HTTP
      Remote Host == (the ip number in the camera URL, it changes every session)
      Remote Host Port == 8080
      Remote Host Path == /video
      Capture Width == see Video Setup in your smartphone APP
      Capture Height ==see Video Setup in your smartphone APP

      At the end you should be able to see your smartphone camera over your NAS in the browser.

      Pitfalls for testing: Setup the same resolution in the smartphone and in your smartphone as well as the same max fps.

      Improvements welcome ;)

    • OMV have a Docker GUI plugin.

      Do you have it installed?

      If yes , post a screen capture of your Zoneminder config in docker webGUI.
