Syncthing changes user permissions to read only

  • Thank you to everyone that has worked on OMV!

The issue I'm having is Syncthing (I'm using the plugin openmediavault-syncthing "Syncthing plugin for OpenMediaVault." ver 1.9.2) is setting all the files to read only.

I have two file stores S1 and S2

Files on S1 look like this:
    -rwxr-xr-x+ 1 jones Fam 0 Sep 26 09:23 JustTest.txt

Files on S2 look like S1 until Syncthing runs. After it runs it looks like this:
    -rwxr--r-- 1 jones users 0 Sep 26 09:20 f1.txt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root users 35 Sep 26 09:19 remoteFile.txt

I have turned off and on "Ignore Permissions" tried running syncthing as different users. No dice.

Maybe there is a simpler way to accomplish what I'm trying to do. I have a ton of files (46GB) I want to share and have changes made to by family. Some are on Windows and some are on Mac. Here is the layout.

    Mac Win
    \ /
    NAS
    |
    Syncthing
    |
    Ambiguous cloud image
    |
    | - Syncthing on Mac
    | - Syncthing on Windows
    | - Syncthing on Mac
    | - Syncthing on Windows

Since my wife and I are on the same network and use the NAS for our personal files I added another hdd and put the extended family files there. I had syncthing on my Windows box and it had issues connecting to the NAS. So put syncthing on the NAS. It set all the files to read only.

Any suggestions on how to make this work or ideas of what I'm doing wrong?
