dnsmasq fails due to segfault to libc

  • Hi folks,

    I'm stuck to get dnsmasq running. I checked all entries against my backup and copied them manually, but there is no dhcp-Server. By starting the service I get these error-messages:

    What about my settings:
    eth0:
    192.168.2.11/255.255.255.0; GW: 192.168.2.254; DNS: 192.168.2.254

    eth1:
    192.168.22.11/255.255.255.0;

    IP-forwarding is enabled and works vice versa.
    I need dnsmasq-dhcp for eth1 only and new hardware should be able to get outside. This worked already with OMV-2.

    Whats missing? Thnx for patience.

    Regards

    I don't see anything in your configs that should cause a problem but a bad config shouldn't cause a segfault anyway. What is the output of (as root): journalctl -u dnsmasq

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github

    What type of media is OMV installed on?

  • Well it is installed onto a "SSD".
    Previously dnsmasq ran with OMV-2 with the same disk.

    Auch das geht vorbei ...

  • I purged openmediavault-dnsmasq and installed all three dnsmasq-packages. After correcting an error in dnsmasq-dhcphosts I ran 'service dnsmasq start' and everything runs fine unfortunately without omv-plugin.

    You must have a bad setting when using the plugin then. The plugin doesn't do much error checking.

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

  • As I mentioned before, there was only a bad MAC-address (sort of aa:bb:cc.dd:ee) in dnsmasq-dhcphosts. After resolving this, dsnmasq came up without an error.
