How can i install and use my printer ?

  • Hello, first, sorry for the english :/
I searched a topic that should help me to install and use my printer but i found nothing
I installed OMV on this machine :
    Motherboard : MSI H81m P33
    CPU : Celeron G1840
    8Go Ram
OMV is on an SSD 64Gb

I know it is bigger than i need, but i had that unused so...

    Today i'm on OMV 4.0.8-1

I tried to install cups and use my printer ( Canon MP140) but unfortunatelly it does'nt work att all

    OMV-EXTRAS is installed
Stable and testing are both checked
when i search cups in the searchbar, nothing is found
    i tried:
    apt-get install cups
it seemed ok but i have errors like :
    - "'NoneType' object is not callable
    - repository is not signed

I'm a novice and i'm saying to myself that i should buy synology nas.. ?(

    Thanks for helping :rolleyes::thumbup::whistling::saint:

Cups are not yet available in OMV 4, when I can not say

That is on the unmaintained plugin list. I haven't tried but the OMV 3.x plugin might work in OMV 4.x.

This is a python bug that has been mentioned in other threads. It isn't causing the problem but installing cups is not the plugin.

Thanks for testing. I will put it in the OMV 4.x repo then.

  • finally, it does'nt really works... i find the printer on the lan, i can install it on the computer but when i try to print something it does nothing.
I can print a test page from the web interface of OMV but from an other computer it does'nt work...
    i don't understand.

  • yes i already did it
as i tried to explain, i already have detected the printer and install it on a computer which is connect to the network
On my laptop, i see the printer and it is "ready"
But if i try to print something, nothing happens

  • i tied it, now i see the printer on the network from a windows PC but cannot connct to it
Windows said that its not possible...

Other problem, i can't connect to the web interfece anymore... wow there's something that i don't understand.
I gone to sleep, and when i woke up and try to connect, it refuses... i'm not drunk, i know my password.wtf
I think i will give up and buy synology.
    to be continued...

  • i changed my password with omv-firstaid now its ok ?(?(?(?(

however, my printer is still visible on the network but windows refuse to connect
I tried to delete it in omv and reconnct but no result ||:S;(
