LetsEncrypt settings page not working anymore

  • Hi,

I don't know what happened, but actually LetsEncrypt settings page does not open anymore in the Openmediavault admin panel:

When I click on 'LetsEncrypt' entry just nothing happens. Some weeks ago this worked and it seems that after some updates it doesn't work anymore.
I'm running OMV version 3.0.91 with all the latest updates.
Anyone having an idea what might be wrong?

    thanks,
    Matt

  • 1 - post more info about your system . eg: is a raspi system or is x64? etc... (you can edit your signature for future use like I do)

at the end if no other sugest is recived, mine is:
un-install the pluging, delete all actual certs (save a backup of actual cert first), and reboot your NAS, once done, do a apt-get update and a apt-get upgrade from shell to see if somethings goes wrong with repos / updates, and finally install again the letsencrypt pluging and share result to see if this time works and see the new two tabs.

  • I'm still stuck.
I cleared all browser caches, re-installed letsencrypt plugin, rebooted but no luck.
As soon as I click on 'LetsEncrypt' menu item under Services its background turns to yellow/brown (see screenshot in first post) but nothing more happens and there is no LetsEncrypt settings page showing up.
Really need to get this going again as soon as possible because I need to update my certificates.

    My machine:
    Intel Pentium CPU J4205
    Linux 4.9.0.0.bpo.4-amd64
    Debian 8.9 jessie
    OMV 3.0.91 (Erasmus)

This is definitely something browser-side. Did you try a different browser? Try the apt clean button in omv-extras as well.

  • as I already said: I tried different browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari on iPad) on different machines, tried to clear browser cache and now I also used 'Apt Clean' button in OMV-Extras. Nothing works. Still same problem.
I'm almost 100% sure it is not a browser issue.

    Excuse me... I missed that...

I'm almost 100% sure it is not a browser issue.

Strange that more people aren't having this issue then... Try the following (as root) and post all output:

    apt-get purge openmediavault-letsencrypt
    omv-aptclean
clear browser cache again - i know you already did it but it needs to be cleared with the plugin gone.
    apt-get install openmediavault-letsencrypt
Turn on debugger output in a browser (usually with F12) and go to console output
navigate to plugin and post console output if there is still an error.

Then I started Edge, hit F12 to bring up Debugger and switched to console.
I opened OMV and as soon as I click on 'LetsEncrypt' its background switches to yellow and console shows this error:

I also tried with FireFox 57 and opened Debugger, this showed following erro:

I have no idea why it doesn't work in your browsers then. It works on everything I have tried it on. Do you have some kind of ad blocker or proxy agent running? Something on your end is stripping out needed code.

  • I don't have ad blockers or proxy agents running or anything else I can think of.
All other plugins are working fine and LetsEncrypt also worked some weeks before without any problems.
I'm updating my system regularly and then out of a sudden LetsEncrypt stopped.

Not sure what you can do. If you look at the code, it is all pretty much the same code as the other plugins. I'd be curious to see if it worked when you installed OMV in a virtual machine and then installed the plugin on that...

  • ok, I started VM, installed OMV 3.0.86 and then installed LetsEncrypt 3.2 from OMV-Extras. All worked well.
Then I did apt-update / apt-upgrade to bring the system to 3.0.91 and still LetsEncrypt 3.2 worked

To update LetsEncrypt to the latest version 3.4.3 I had to activate 'OMV-Extras.org Testing' repository and then it updated to 3.4.3 - and still is working fine.

So it is working on a fresh install in VM, but not on my real device.
