No media listed in CLI

  • Yesterday, I did a clean install from OMV 2.x to OMV 3.0.91, and have gone about remounting data drives/shared folders. All goes well except...

...In cli, there are no listings in /media folder, only cdrom drives. Makes me suspicious. My data drives are not listed. However, they are mounted and viewable through WebGUI, and I can create/manage shares. I discovered this when trying to get Plex running again.

I ssh into server, but when logging in, OMV is not mentioned as my system, only Debian/Linux. I used to see OMv mentioned here, which makes me suspicious.

    Anyone help? :(

Edit: hdd are listed in /srv in more recent versions. Great! Now, the hdds are not listed by the actual labels, but instead by "dev-disk-by-label-Data"

Why would the disks not have the UUID listed here?

This is because OMV is no operating system. OMV is an application which is running under Debian/Linux as OS. Maybe the SSH output was changed from OMV 2 to 3.

Volker Theile (votdev), the developer of OMV has explained this here

    OMV 3.0.100 (Gray style)

    ASRock Rack C2550D4I C0-stepping - 16GB ECC - 6x WD RED 3TB (ZFS 2x3 Striped RaidZ1) - Fractal Design Node 304 -

    3x WD80EMAZ Snapraid / MergerFS-pool via eSATA - 4-Bay ICYCube MB561U3S-4S with fan-mod

  • That all makes sense, and I have resolved this issue.

Edit: and made my donation to OMV! This has been my NAS for 3 years now with very little trouble. Even though I'm a Linux n00b, I am learning so much through this process, and feel very comfortable with OMV and some cli work as well. Thanks!
