Webbrowser in OMV

  • Hey!

    is it possible to integrate an webbrowser into the OMV? Under Services maybe?
    Reaching pyload, fritzbox, and all my internal websites etc. would be possible without a VPN connection.

    Any idea?

  • I don't think that there are any "Browser-like" Webpage Plugins out there, so i don't think this is possible, but i wouldn't rule it out, because i know some crazy webservices, that can be implemented in a Webbrowser. Do you know a Plugins/Services for what you are asking? Then somebody could do a Plugin for it.

  • I'll give it a shot, but i doubt that it'll work via Putty.

  • I tested it and at my end it only works on a Xserver, it also does not stay inside a terminal, it has its own window...

    If you install the X libraries and a browser on the system, you can use x forwarding via putty or nx/freenx (as I do). Works quite well.

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github

    No plugin but very easy. Both options use ssh so it would be the only port open. I also use a port other than 22.

    If you want to use x forwarding, it is an option in the ssh tab. All you really need to do install a browser which will install the x libraries you need. tekkbebe wrote up how to for this but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.

    If you want to use nx, read my post.

    Have not heard of NoMachine before, will have to take a look. I read your NX post and it makes sense on implementation.

    As for a web/http fileserver, I had found this simple program for a Windows box, http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/?f=intro. But I can see where the OP would like one as most of the commercial boxes have one. Or did I misunderstand their request?
