I have an old HP Media Vault 2014 which now prevents my access to the files with a message on my Windows 10 PC that reports that SMB1 is not secure and requires SMB2. Can you help me figure out what to do, please? I'm not as skilled a user as many on here.
Thanks

Correction!! It's an HP Media Vault 2040...

I'm assuming your running an older version of OpenMediaVault, in which case, that means it's time to consider upgrading.

Find out, which version of OMV you are using and what the version of the underlaying Debian is. Then you need to check if this Debian version is supporting SMB protokol version larger than 1. If this is the case, try to add
min protocol = SMB2
in the Extra Options field of the SMB/CIFS share. After that disable and enable SMB/CIFS to restart the service.
Upgrade to OMV3 might also be a good idea.

If you choose to upgrade (which you should), then doing all of the other stuff macom mentioned should be unnecessary.
