There are advantages and disadvantages. Are you having a problem with ext4?

Everything is running fine, i just keep hearing though how awsome zfs is and i realised i know nothing about it. What is it used for really

It has many good uses like protecting against bitrot and sending snapshots but it is bad for other things like databases.

Are you using raid now? Also one other advantage is compression, some files compress better than others. Of course that needs memory and a fast processor.
It depends on your use case what is better for you.

I dont use RAID nor do i plan to. Better compression seems nice, but i dont think the Turion Processor of my HPn40L could handle it well. Id rather stick to better performance speeds. So if thats it, ext4 remains the only option for now
