well i ran into a few problems i guess....

  • Hey guys,
    as u can see in the title i ran into a few problems, but let me start at the beginning i guess ..
    1st my omv is running on a raspberry pie 3+ , since i wanted to install it over a usb stick , which didnt work, i run it over a very slow sd card now class 10.
    I formatted my 3 tb external drive on fat 32 just 2 figure out that fat 32 wont really work on omv .. i had a few errors when i tryd creating a folder in the filesystem so i googled alot .... but still i had the drive mounted...
    Well after i found out that fat 32 sucks i farmatted it over the omv web interface on ext4 .. had an error code the 1st time but on 2nd try it just ran trouh no problems... but now i cant mount it every time i try i get this

    Fehler #0:exception 'OMV\ExecException' with message 'Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C; mount -v --source '/dev/sda1' 2>&1' with exit code '32': mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so.' in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/system/process.inc:175Stack trace:#0 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/system/filesystem/filesystem.inc(715): OMV\System\Process->execute()#1 /usr/share/openmediavault/engined/rpc/filesystemmgmt.inc(862): OMV\System\Filesystem\Filesystem->mount()#2 [internal function]: OMVRpcServiceFileSystemMgmt->mount(Array, Array)#3 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/serviceabstract.inc(124): call_user_func_array(Array, Array)#4 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/rpc.inc(86): OMV\Rpc\ServiceAbstract->callMethod('mount', Array, Array)#5 /usr/sbin/omv-engined(536): OMV\Rpc\Rpc::call('FileSystemMgmt', 'mount', Array, Array, 1)#6 {main}

    o y and from time 2 time i get connection failure but i gust press ok and it goes away .. dont know if this has to do with anything or is imortent at all...

  • also when start the s.m.a.r.t thingi i get a eroor code 2 .. didnt used it till now since i dont reall know what its for.
    Am I supposed 2 run updated at all on the rpi or could that break it since you specially made that fix for the rpi ?

    If you log into OMV's web UI... which kernel version is shown? 4.9.80 or 4.14.30?

    it is 4.14.30-v7+

  • @vivalablub : Which filesystem did you use on your 2nd attempt? FAT32 again or EXT4?

    1x HP ProLiant N36L ( 2011 ) with 4xWesternDigital WD20EFRX bonded as RAID6 using OMV 3.0.99 64-bit.
    2x HP ProLiant Gen8 ( 2015 ) with 4x WesternDigital WD20EFRX bonded as RAID6 using OMV 3.0.99 64-bit.
    1x Fujitsu SS 4200E ( 2006 ) with 3x HITACHI HUA723020ALA640 bonded as RAID5 using OMV 3.0.99 64-bit.

    All servers don't use any flash-based storage for the operating system. The OS boots off a partition on the RAID itself!
