Can't install docker CE

  • Hello.
    I used linux mint for about 5 years.
    But as i used mostly for media share, TS3 and jdonwloader i switched to OMV 3 yesterday.
    Updates done (omv : v3.99, linux kenel : 4.9.0.bpo.6)
    It's working great and is realy easy to use and config (thanks for the clonezilla boot option it's realy great).

    The only plugin i can't get works is the docker CE, i can't install it i alway get errors

    teamspeak is the problem. Something is wrong with its systemd unit/sysvinit script. I would install OMV 4.x though.

    omv 7.0-32 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.9 | compose 7.0.9 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github

    Does OMV 4.x as a TS3 plugin ?
    By the way i use an old atom with only 2gb or ram, 3.99 run realy fine with it, will it be the same with the 4.X ?

    Thanks again

    No but it does have the docker plugin (and there are ts3 images) which is direction we are going with plugins like this.

    omv 7.0-32 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.9 | compose 7.0.9 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

    Yes, it will be fine.

    How about the ram usage of docker versus regular app ?

    You shouldn't notice much difference.

    omv 7.0-32 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.9 | compose 7.0.9 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

  • So here's the results so far to use omv 4 + docker :

    OMV4 vs OMV3 ram usage = about the same
    OMV4 vs OMV3 cpu usage = about the same

    OMV3 TS3 plugin VS OMV4 TS3 docker ram = + 3%
    OMV3 TS3 plugin VS OMV4 TS3 docker cpu = about the same

    OMV3 plex plugin VS OMV4 plex docker ram = + 9%
    OMV3 plex plugin VS OMV4 plex docker cpu = about the same

    Docker Working fine, the only couterpart is its ram usage and not in a realy big part
    Gona try the JD2 docker now

    Thanks for helping^^

    Those numbers make sense. Docker does have advantages (no cruft in OS, protects OS from problems if service runs bad or is hacked, etc) for a minor increase in memory.
