New OMV 4 install missing files system on disk from OMV 3

  • Create a new VM for OMV 4 in Proxomox and attached the same disk as my OMV 3 VM. They all show properly in the "Physical Disks" list but two are missing from the "File System" list. All 4 disks are xfs formatted but the two that are missing are used for TimeMachine backups. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    2xKingston 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Server Memory w/TS Hynix B Model
    16GB SSD for Proxmox
    64GB SSD for VM (OMV 2.2.13 & Win7 x64)

  • I got the same issue.
The file systems are listed, but status is set to Missing.

I can manually mount the 4 external drives.

I cant delete the Devices from the list - there are all greyed out.
I can Create new devices, but that will surely require a full wipe of my data..

  • i have a simular problem. missing the filesystem on one disk.

there is an error that maybe is related to this: Failed to read file '/tmp/bgstatusmrgqA9' (size=0)

This is fixed in 4.1.6. Install updates from the Updates tab or run omv-update from the command line.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

  • thanks. i updated to 4.1.6. Still my 3Tb disk (known on the 3.x version) is not recognized for mounting. Create a filesystem for this disk to without a format is not possible
    any suggetions?

  • I got the same as Lambik, I cant create a new file system. I can select Create and the fill out Device, Label and File system. It completes without errors, but file system is not showing up.

Thou the file system for the USB key from the OMV runs is listed..

omv-update has been updated, version 4.1.6

By the way, this on a fresh OMV installation - not an upgrade from v3.

  • OK, I think i got it now.

I tried to create a new file systems with xfs, ext3, ext4 but with no success.
Tried wipe the drives ahead and recreate them, but with no success.

But when removing the partition and create a new Linux partition via fdisk, and there after create a new file system it work.

So fdisk did the trick for my, and I have by disks back - just have to restore the data now.

    :)
