My first DIY NAS, IKEA Build

  • Hi all
My name is Lukasz, I'm following this forum for last year and I decided to build my own OMV server.
Idea came from IKEA catalog, simple, white and square box, components packed in small and nice looking case hanging on the wall.

    Components:

    ASRock 970M PRO3
    AMD Athlon II X4 605e
    2x 4Gb Ram
    1x 2.5" 64Gb SSD (System)
    1x 3.5" 1.5TB HDD
    4x 2.5" 1TB HDD
    450W Power supply (stripped)
    Noctua NH-L9x65
    2x 120mm Corsair Fans (system)
2x 80mm Corsair Fans (power supply)
    1x 40mm Chipset Fan
    Manual 4 channel fan control
    Double USB3.0 Header
    Double USB2.0 Header
2x Temperature sensors (one for PSU and one for mobo)
    Cheap remote controlled LED strip

    Transfers? Gigabit! ~125MB/s Write

Whole build with 6x fans is really quiet, you can barely hear it when you're in the room.

    Plugins:
    Docker
    Emby
    Remote Desktop
    Shellinabox
    Sensors

PSU is stripped and located on the back of HDD's, its taking cold air from the bottom of the server, there's 2x 80mm fans cooling it.
I don't know what's the power consumption but its definitely not low.
I'm planning to build another NAS using more power friendly components

    Thanks for looking.
