    • OMV4 - Many errors on freshly installed OMV 4.0

      Failing to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x, I had to make a fresh install of OMV 4.1.7 on a Debian 9 freshly installed system.

      CPU is an Intel G16170T with Kernel 4.9.0-6-amd64 and 8GB RAM.

      Even if the system has been just installed, I receive MANY errors from OMV, in several sistuations, when I apply changes to the system.

      These are just a few examples.

      Has please someone any clue on how to fix these issues?

      Thanks in advance!
    • Oh gosh... I've found what happened.

      There was an error with the PXE plugin which was only half configured.

      In the nginx configuration page, there were two incomplete directives:

      Source Code

      1. listen ;
      2. listen [::]:;

      Instead of:

      Source Code

      1. listen 8001;
      2. listen [::]:8001;

      Will leave the post in case someone should have similar problems.
    • it's good that you did leave this as it seems so hit and miss installing on a real
      ASRock J4205-ITX Apollo Lake SOD/U3/4S3 M-ITX Motherboard

      in this case even nano /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/openmediavault-pxe editing and editing the file didnt work as per after rerunning omv-firstaid and selecting 2: configure web control still resulted in the same error (must be caching it somewhere ?

      as i could not get to the :80 or :82 set and failed omv-firstaid pages at the time... i resolved it by
      apt-get remove openmediavault-pxe

      in the ssh session as omv-initsystem did nothing to resolve it after a apt-get dist-upgrade and i did also install when the web page was working earlier openmediavault-nginx and remove the apt-get remove openmediavault-nginx in the shell.

      resolved for now as i can now access the :80 webpage again without a full reinstall , but as seems inevitable there's breakage on real J4205-ITX Apollo Lake hardware ,now its remote desktop 4 ,although in an emergency reinstall last week that worked fine and something else broke in its place ...

      for a so called simple and easy to use out-of-the-box solution that you apparently need to first of all find,download then install a 3rd party openmediavault-omvextrasorg_latest_all4.deb then phaff about to get the recommended "docker" environment for future generic use to keep your central multimedia storage applications current etc.. seems an odd core developer choice , but it works sometimes if you dont breath on it too hard or to often.
