Hi,
I´ve unintentionally installed too many updates by asing the shell command apt-get update and then apt-get upgrade. Since that point of time, omv seems to constantly download from the internet. Is there a way to figure out what is beeing downloaded?
By the way: I made a copy of my omv harddsik with dd a couple of months ago. I´m not too familiar with linux. How to copy this back?

If you're still in the shell you did the apt-get upgrade with you should see whats downloading/installing.

There is method there we recommend for backing up. You should learn to use Clonezilla to make your backups. Makes an image of your system disk and it's much easier to restore.

@ davidh2k Danke. apt-get upgrade sagt mir, dass nichts runtergeladen etc. wird. es erfolgen aber ständig schreibzugriffe auf die systemplatte und die lichtlein am Switch leuchten wie verrückt
frage ist nun, wie ich dieses blöde *.img Image, das ich mit dd erstellt habe wieder auf die systemplatte bringe.
auf den link von tekkbebe habe ich keine zugriffserlaubnis.

Der Link ist jetzt in Ordnung. Das tut mir leid.
Even if you have to reinstall the raid should be fine. You can simply remount it. Just make sure you unplug the data drives that contain the raid when you reinstall on the system drive. What has happened that you need to restore the .img you made with dd?

@tekkbebe- auch auf deutsch? die frage ist: was ist einfacher/unsriskanter- image von der systemplatte per dd zurückspielen oder neu installieren. ich hatte früher schon mal freenas bzw. nas4free am laufen. da war das gar kein problem mit dem rücksichern....

Er hat gefragt was eigentlich passiert ist bzw. warum du das image zurückspielen möchtest.
Funktioniert denn irgendwas nicht? Bist du dir sicher dass das NAS selbst bzw. etwas auf dem NAS für den Traffic auf dem Switch verantwortlich ist und nicht etwas das auf das NAS zugreift?Was sagt der Netzwerkgraph im OMV Webinterface?
dd ist immer gefährlich, da kann man ganz schnell etwas zerschießen wenn man das falsche Laufwerk als Ziel auswählt!
Also solange nicht wirklich etwas defekt ist, würde ich gar nicht daran denken ein image wieder einzuspielen.
Außerdem solltest du dir ggf. die Backupmethode die tekkbebe vorgeschlagen hat zu Gemüte führen.Gruß
