backup from data (on OMV 3 @ HP microServer) to NAS (ZYXEL NSA-220)

    • backup from data (on OMV 3 @ HP microServer) to NAS (ZYXEL NSA-220)

      Hello at all,

      I do have a stupid question maybe. I run a HP microServer with OMV 3 and I would like to backup datas (pictures for examples) on to a second NAS (ZYXEL NSA-220). The ZYXEL NSA-220 is aold device which I still have but no longer use. I really would like to have it as a backup drive if possible. both devices are in same network, of course, and with my Win10 PC I have access to both devices.

      Is this possible and if yes how? Some weeks before I tried it with rsync but I did it wrong - it doesnt work unfortunately.

      you do have an idea or hint what I could try?

      Thanks a lot.
    • I use rsync for that.

      You need a user that can ssh to the backup device (use ssh-copy-id after confirming it works).

      Then I use a file for the tasks named rsdeltargetname.sh

      Shell-Script: rsdeldelle.sh

      1. #/bin/sh
      2. # 2016-08-23
      3. # ACHTUNG diese Version ist für Rechner ac angepasst
      4. # NO trailing slashes!

      16. for ((i=0; i < ${#directories[@]}; i++ ))
      17. do
      18. echo $'_____________________________________\n\n ---> ' ${directories[i]} $'\n'
      19. rsync -avr --delete ${source}/${directories[i]}/ ${target}/${directories[i]}
      20. done

      I run these jobs occasionally via commandline.
      For continous syncing I use syncthing.
