When I try to check for updates in the update manager or in the plugin section. I get an error. I'm not sure if its the exact same error, but it looks very similar. Does anyone know what the problem here is?
Error when checking for updates

- OMV 4.x

There is/was a problem with the Debian package repository.
-
So how can I fix this? I ran omv-firstaid and cleared the package repository but it still throws the error. I can't install omv extras as it just throws this error.

You need to tell APT to use another mirror instead of ftp.us.debian.org. Have a look into /etc/apt/sources.list and simply use one of the mirros you can find here: https://www.debian.org/mirror/list

All of the mirrors were set to ftp.au.debian.org. I'm in Australia so that is the closest mirror. Even when I change to a different mirror I still get the error.

Did you run a
after changing the repository?

I didn't. I didn't even think of it, I'm pretty new to linux. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the error.
-
Try apt-get clean all. Then apt-get update then apt-get dist-upgrade.
-
Nope. Still the same error. Seems like a strange error.

I have seen others repo this error with the OMV repo itself but I have never got the error on any of my systems. No idea what is causing it. It has to be something with the OMV system though.

So do you think a reinstall is in order? I think that's the only option left, unless anyone has any other ideas. Hopefully a solution can be found for anyone else having this error.

You will never get updates unless this is fixed. So, it is an option.

I can't reproduce this. So, it is difficult to figure out what is wrong.

I looked at your error.txt. Why all the squeeze packages? How and what did you install?
-
Why all the squeeze packages?
Good point. I completely read that as stretch.

I haven't installed anything. I updated everything there was to update in the update manager, and then experienced the error when I tried to install omv-extras. I might have installed something to get wifi working, but I don't think I tried to, as its hard to install anything without internet.

What version of omv did you install? From iso, usb or other? From where?
-
I downloaded the iso from the omv website and made a bootable usb in linux by right clicking the iso and clicking make bootable. Maybe there was an error when creating the bootable usb drive?

We would like to duplicate your problem to keep others from having the same problem. We need the details to do so. What version did you download? What kind of hardware? Any other details that may help?
Thanks

The DNS problem.
Open Shell
cd /etc/
nano resolv.confAdd "nameserver 8.8.8.8" #Or other address you like
And save it -

I'm not home at the moment, so I can't check the version I downloaded. The machine I'm using is a Dell Poweredge 410. I made the ISO bootable in Linux Mint 18. I installed off of an 8GB flash drive onto a 16GB flashdrive. When I get home I'll check the version. I still have the bootable install drive so if there is a way to create an image of that I can upload that for you guys.
