Update ARM-Device -> E: Command line option --allow-downgrades is not understood

  • Tried to Update my QNAP TS-221 with Kirkwood-Processor (?) now running OMV 3

After deinstalling OMV-Extras -> apt update && apt upgrade <- went well, but doing omv-update ended up with

"E: Command line option --allow-downgrades is not understood"

What to do? My Fernziel is upgrading to OMV 4

    Bye Micha

    After deinstalling OMV-Extras

Why did you do that? The only thing you need to do is check to ensure all your plugins have been ported to OMV4, if you find any that haven't then uninstall them.

Then do apt-get update then run omv-release-upgrade

If it goes wrong don't call me I'll call you :D

  • Can't do a omv-release-upgrade because the binary is not present, so i tried to update omv with omv-update ('apt update -> apt upgrade -> omv-update') and failed within omv-update with the error stated above

I deinstalled omv-extras while i red a post here that recommended it

omv-extras hasn't supported armel machines since OMV 2.x. I recommend upgrading your hardware.

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github

Got it ... ordered a Odroid HC2 ... hope this will meet your recommandations :D and is better supported in the forum, but i'm afraid someone will have something to complain about. ;):P

    Other suggestions?

    M.

    Should be ok.

Other than stay on the version you are currently running? No. I have no plans to add armel support.

  • No ... recommandations for cheap hardware for a rsync standalone backup device which can figure as a backup NAS ... this was perfectly fitted by the old QNAP-NAS we started the discussion on

I understand but we can only support so many things. Even QNAP stops supporting stuff after a couple of years.

I didn't recommend anything because you said you ordered an odroid hc2. I prefer the rock64 over the odroid though.
