Partitaion starts at an offset of 3584 bytes

  • HI folks,

I'm completely new to OMV and debian

Just trying to install to an external USB hard drive and when I select the disk, I get the error:

The partition /dev/sda1 assigned to / starts at an offset of 3584 bytes from the minimum alignment of the disk, which may lead to very poor performance

It then goes on to tell me how to fix it by going back to the partitioner and recreating the partition.

However, when I click <go back> or <yes> to go back to the partitioning menu, it seems to take me to a install menu and anything else I try to do with the disk gives me an error which says "No root file system defined"

At that point I need to exit and reboot.

    Any one help?

    Thanks!

All of my OMV installs start the first partition on 2048. What kind of hardware are you using?
